Change of Uni Preference Guide

Our school subscribes to Studyworkgrow which have just released a helpful Guide to support students who wish to change their University or TAC preferences.


Most universities and TACs provide plenty of opportunities to change preferences. After submitting your application and before receiving your final results, students can usually log into their application and adjust their preferences. For access to this guide use the link HERE.


Hansen Scholarship Applications - Yr 11 student

Are you thinking of studying at the University of Melbourne in 2025?


Applications will open in February 2024 for the Hansen Scholarship Program, worth up to $108,000. Each year the University of Melbourne recognises students from around Australia who have demonstrated outstanding academic success, resilience to adversity, and a commitment to helping and leading others. Through financial support, tailored mentoring, and extracurricular activities, Hansen scholars are equipped with the skills and knowledge to make an impact at Melbourne and beyond. UNSW - Portfolio Entry Early Offer Scheme

UNSW is providing workshops to support Year 12 students to learn about how to submit a portfolio that could land them an early conditional offer to study at UNSW in Term 1, 2024. In these interactive workshops, you will gain tips and examples on what students need to submit, the application process, key dates, and a Q&A session.

The Faculty of Engineering at UNSW also invites students to apply through the offers of the FEAS scheme. This scheme requires students interested in Engineering to submit a personal statement, their Year 12 results, and a video demonstrating why they are suited to studying Engineering at UNSW. Most FEAS degrees require a minimum ATAR of 83.

Achieve Fest takes young people on a journey of self-discovery, from exploring their unique passions, to developing important life skills and taking real-world action on issues that matter to them most. Careers in Renewable Energy

The GiST (Girls in Stem Toolkit) is holding a webinar about careers in renewable energy.


Over the next 30 years, new wind and solar farms, batteries, rooftop solar installations, and hydro projects will need to be built. This is a booming sector!


This webinar will explore the working lives, school and career pathways of two young women who have opted to work in the clean energy sector. It is designed to give secondary students insights into careers in this sector and the opportunity to ask questions.

Agriculture Camp for 11 & 12 Students

The Feed Your Mind, Feed the World (FYM) camp is a three-day experience for year 11 and 12 students who are interested in finding out more about agricultural science and career pathways stemming from an agricultural science degree.


The camp is hosted by the Tasmanian Institute of Agriculture (TIA), which is an agricultural research arm of the University of Tasmania and is responsible for teaching the Bachelors degree. TIA staff members will be supervising students for the duration of the camp.


Applications close on 27 October 2023.

Thinking about being a physio?

Back in Motion is running a student seminar on Thursday 19th October, from 5-7 pm.


Two of their physios, Nathan and Felix, will be running a seminar for grade 11 and 12 students providing information about pursuing a career in Physiotherapy.


This is being held at the practice at 221 Murray Street Hobart TAS 7000

Raincheck Lounge - Hospitalitly!

Raincheck Lounge has a unique opportunity on offer to leaving students or current students.


This offer includes a chef apprenticeship position or a chef school-based apprenticeship. There are also front-of-house positions available.

Work at INCAT

Incat Tasmania Pty. Ltd. have now opened their apprenticeship recruitment for positions commencing in January 2024. If you are interested in applying for a Cert III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, please take a look at the APPRENTICESHIP APPLICATION - INCAT form.


A couple of things to note:

  • Incat will advertise the apprenticeships on SEEK (if a student applies via the link above they DON’T also need to apply via SEEK.)
  • If the student applied for the last round of apprenticeship vacancies, we would encourage them to submit a new application via the link above.

Tasmania Police Program

Tasmania Police offer a Career Development Program (CDP) aimed at Year 12 students from around Tasmania who have a keen interest in becoming a police officer. They offer a free, five day program during which students stay at the Tasmania Police Academy, Rokeby and experience what is required of a trainee police officer. As a part of this program students will undertake the Tasmania Police fitness testing and written examinations. Those students who are successful will progress through to an interview and possible inclusion on a recruit training course at the completion of their Year 12 studies.


There are three opportunities to undertake this 5 day program in 2024 - April, July and September school holidays but places are limited. As there are some minimum requirements to participate in this program please speak with Trish or Pete to receive a Student Nomination Form.


Nominations for the April 2024 program are to be received by no later than Thursday 9th November, 2024.
